The night comes so quickly
The sun becomes lazy in the morning
The eyes are now open before dawn
Time is spent waiting for the darkness
The moon smiling above us all
Bright stars lighting the sky
There is still warmth enough left
Though sweaters become the dress of the day
The heart loves these days
The weariness of the summer waning
No longer fighting off heat
Cold not deep enough to be uncomfortable
The heart sees the joys of late fall
Planning the celebrations of the final harvests.
