Cooking

A kitchen filled with ingredients
Someone carefully picked her garden
Squash and tomatoes are abundant
So are those who are hungry

A full meal, never before made
Foods known mainly by description
A strange kitchen
It seems there is only enough time

There has been talk of new places
People wanting to know about life elsewhere
Pictures from an African journey
The meal must match the trip

The names are so exotic
The tongue struggles to pronounce
Yet they are all simple foods
Some even seem familiar

A type of pan-fried bread,
Some cooked greens
boiled cornmeal
Stew and fruit

Nothing seems so foreign
Everything grows here
