Resting

The only sound is of the dog lapping water
A moment ago, she was begging for an ear-scratch
The world is frozen on the outside
The weather brought silence to the streets

Feet off the floor
Propped up by giant pillows
Buried in heavy blankets
Bundled in the warm room, just as when outside

Hot tea sits close by
Finally cooled to it can touch the tongue
The body is overjoyed with warmth
Rest has already come

The body protests that some days there is nothing left to do
Unless perhaps it is to watch another movie
Laying down, listening
Eyes closing… make that sleep through another movie
