Waking

The eyes open to a silent darkness
Winter brings a late morning
The silence suddenly broken
Morning is too early for “alarm”

The body defeats inertia
The feet seek the floor
The cool air contrasted with the warm bed
The mind knows that it is time to wake

A man’s will can defeat his weakness
Reasons are stronger than lethargy
There are moments without energy
Yet need demonstrates undiscovered potential

Soon the body is cleansed
Sleep and illness going down the drain
Eyes open and seeing
Today can become a good day
