a long walk

The feet are tired and sore
The soreness climbs the legs up the back
Sitting at home
seeing the long day finally ended

So many sights to see
So many new people to meet
Living the life of a function
Strangers before and after

Perhaps the soreness will go away
Maybe time can make the feet used to the miles
There were so many miles
Tomorrow will require even more

The head aches at the thought
The hunger is consuming
The thirst is unbearable
The feet protest the feel of concrete

The day is now over
Soon the stomach will be filled
Soon the pain will be a memory
Sleep will heal the tiredness
