Difficult Journey
My feet touch the road again
The Journey maybe half finished
Feet shod with worn out shoes
The soles tired from hundreds of miles
I’ve little more then the clothes on my back
Many miles have passed since I abandoned my luggage
At one time it seemed so vital –
But it became a burden, impossible to bear
I walk through the heat of the day,
Then evening comes
Breaking the dizziness from the bright, piercing sun
Quickly everything starts to cool down
And it becomes too dark to see my path
I make my bed in the weeds beside the road
I look up, and see the night sky of the West
Shining stars and even the milky way
Only the light of the harvesters to compete with the night
Sleep comes quickly,
I’m exhausted from the days journey
Duty has called, but life brings inconveniences
Another delay – but no failures…
… yet.
